Can You Do This Yourself
Buhler sits nine miles out from our shop in Hutchinson, close enough that a call here doesn't turn into a half-day trip, but far enough that we plan the parts we bring before we leave the yard rather than guessing on site. That drive matters more than it sounds. If we show up without the right logic board or a compatible wall control for a unit that's been running since the house was built, that's a second trip, and a second trip on a nine-mile run eats into the time it should have taken to just get it right the first time. So the first thing we ask on the phone is the opener's age and brand, not just the symptom. Most Buhler houses went up around 1956, which puts a lot of original or early-replacement openers in that chain-drive, screw-drive-rare, 1/3-horsepower range - simple machines, but ones where the control board families have changed two or three times since install. Knowing that before we drive out means we're not rebuilding the diagnosis from scratch in your driveway.
